Our commitment

Equality, diversity and inclusion

Our commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is reflected through our on-going goal as an Alliance to ensure that a diverse range of people are equally represented within the NCL VCSE Alliance including the interrelated activities of each organisation and the communities they serve.

We collaborate with The NCL Integrated Care System (NCL Health and Care System) who works hard to ensure the richly diverse populations within North Central London have access to services that are fair and equally accessible to everyone, regardless of age, disability, trans status, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Our vision is to ensure:

  • the NCL Health and Care system’s priorities reflect a diverse range of community and intersectional needs
  • BAME groups are represented within services
  • inclusive representation of diverse perspectives
  • we challenge discriminatory behaviour and practices
  • services are equal and accessible to all
  • employment at both a strategic level and grassroots level is representative of diversity
  • we consult and engage with local people and communities

Our collective vision

  • to ensure equality, diversity and inclusion are at the forefront of decision making within the NCL Health and Care system strategies
  • to campaign and advocate for actions to address the root causes of structural inequalities
  • To facilitate greater collaboration between NCL VCSE sector and NCL Health and Care system to serve the diverse needs of local communities

The Equality Act 2010 requires us to do:

  • eliminate unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation and other conduct prohibited by the Act
  • advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
  • foster good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not
